Ali‘i Sir Edward Akana established the Moku ‘O Kapuāiwa -- the eighth and newest chapter of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I -- on 11 April 2007 to coincide with the birthday of His Majesty King Kamehameha V Lot Kapuāiwa. The purpose of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, as it is known today, is to unite men of Hawaiian ancestry in fraternal and benevolent work that preserves and perpetuates the ancient culture, customs, and traditions of Hawai‘i, uplifts the Hawaiian people, and encourages and develops leadership.
