Respect of plants equal to respect of onself and one’s relationship to the land

[Kelliher:]
We consider the animals and plants that we harvested, and the careful way we asked them for their life. We thanked them for their life. We still do those things, many of us. I was taught to, before I pick a plant to talk to it, to acknowledge it, to respect it, and in that way I’m showing respect to myself and showing respect to the land, long-term.
