Work in the city meant extended time away from your spouse on the reservation

[Wood:]
When I lived on a rez, we used to drive back and forth every weekend unless you decided to stay there in the city where you were working, but most of us always went back.
[Lindberg:]
So what does that do to family life? Just get used to it?
[Wood:]
Yeah. When I was working at Binghamton, I was single then, so it didn’t bother anybody. But when I got into the local, I was married to Claire. I think we got along pretty good when I was out of town.
[Lindberg:]
She didn’t have to fix lunch for you.
[Wood:]
Right.
