- I worry that Americans don’t understand the story and the history of what happened to these people, and then understand that there is hope in this story as well. We’ve all made mistakes. Our government has made some terrible mistakes, but there is hope, and the hope is really coming from the people themselves. The other thing is that I worry that the American public thinks that bad things happen, but the American Indians are taken care of, and sometimes I worry that that’s the case, and that is anything but.
