Acceptance of hospice depends on a family’s understanding of what hospice offers

[John:]: Community Health Services is the main contact for local hospices in the area and home health agencies. We do work local.
[Lindberg:]: So there is a hospice society someplace around here?
[John:]: Locally, yes. We have several, actually.
[Lindberg:]: Oh, yeah, really? And is the idea well received in the tribe?
[John:]: I can speak only on a few cases that I’m aware of, and I think that just depends on the family and how much they have an idea of what that’s about.
[Lindberg:]: So some don’t want help, huh? Do it themselves?
[John:]: I don’t know if I would want to say they would want help, but maybe they’re not fully aware of what the hospice offers, so we help to get that information out also.
