People look for a quick fix to medical issues
- [Lindberg:]
- How do they think illness arises? Do they think it’s a punishment for evil duty, thoughts, or something?
- [John:]
- Just in my experience—and I’ve been a registered nurse for, oh, gosh, over maybe 12 years.
- [Lindberg:]
- You must have started out when you were seven or eight then, huh?
- [John:]
- No. I’ve not ever had a patient to tell me they thought it was something they did wrong.
- [Lindberg:]
- Okay, so they’re all modern here.
- [John:]
- Right. I think a lot of—maybe in our society—and hopefully we can turn this around, but I think for—“Well, if I feel bad, I just need to take something and I’ll feel better,” and maybe they’re looking for instantaneous results, which of course we all know that there’s nothing out there and I think if there was, health care wouldn’t be like it is today.
