Culturally-appropriate support programs are essential to the success of student education

[Lindberg:]
Well, of course, one of the things one notices is that recruitment of Indians into health care and medical schools is very, very poor.
[Lindquist:]
Yes.
[Lindberg:]
What can be done about that?
[Lindquist:]
It’s a challenge. Now again I’m an educator, my current role and position in that, and it’s a challenge, number one, getting our students to come in to higher education at the local level, so you have bigger problems or issues to grapple with to get the students to go off reservation or wherever they grew up and into mainstream institutions, and the primary issue that I see is the issue of student support.
