Seattle Indian Health Board epidemiologists work with medical residents on their research projects

[Forquera:]
We’ve been really lucky because having this residency program and then having the UIH Institute here, all the residents are supposed to do a research project, and one of the things that we learned early on is the fact that residents come here, and they know, one, nothing about research so they have no idea how—you know, to them it’s pulling a few charts and looking at a few pieces of information, that’s research. So we’ve really tried to make sure that when a resident has a research project that they end up sitting down with one of the epidemiologists that we have working for us and talk about method, talk about statistical power. All those kinds of things, so at least they’re exposed to it.
