The legacy of boarding schools is a lack of parenting skills in the current generation

[Bullock:]
With the history of boarding schools, we know where so many of the parenting skills were lost. 80 percent of Native children all across the country from Florida to Alaska went to boarding school and we know how difficult those experiences were. They happened starting at age five for many and went on for years, and we parent the way we were parented, and those boarding schools did not provide good models for that in the vast majority of cases.
