Southcentral Foundation's healthcare system is built on customer-owner relationships.

[GOTTLIEB:]
Nuka is our healthcare system and the successes that we have around it is the customer/owner relationships. It's built on relationships, and those are the strengths of the Alaska Native culture. If we have something, we want to have relationship and we've changed the title of patient to customer and owner and other people in other places might call themselves different, but we decided to say customer because when someone is coming in the door to get a service and you're a customer, you're going to treat them very nicely, and part of our change and redesign was we are a people that should receive honor. We have integrity. We should be respected and you do that always in a service industry, so let's call ourselves customers.
