Only a “chosen few” children are selected to become medicine men

- Medicine men around here—what I’ve been told is that there’s these little men, strong men what they call [in Native language]. You know, they take younger kids from their home, and they’ll take them into the woods and, you know—I guess, you’re one of the chosen few to be taken, and then when you come back you’re growing up to be a medicine man, but like I said, it’s probably one of the chosen few.
